"Siemens Ukraine" Donates Equipment to Hospitals throughout Ukraine
On September 30, Siemens Ukraine announced that it has selected seven hospitals throughout Ukraine to receive ultrasonic machines to detect thyroid cancer in children. This type of cancer is common in the region due to the Chernobyl accident. Siemens works in partnership with German-based Lower Saxony charity foundation, "Children of Chernobyl," to implement a long-term project "Children thyroid gland diseases early diagnosis and cure." The machines are produced by Siemens, which also provides training for hospital workers and conducts site visits to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Since 1996, Siemens has provided more than 100 machines, worth over € 3.5 million, to children's hospitals in Ukraine. In addition, "Children of Chernobyl" and Siemens work with the Health Care Ministry to train Ukrainian hospital workers. Click here for more information. Click here for more information.
