Mobile Phone Companies Cooperate on Hotline to Prevent Human Trafficking
This month, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) received the 1,750th call on its national toll-free anti-trafficking hotline (telephone number "527"), helping a young female victim receive emergency assistance. Established jointly in April by the three largest cell phone service providers in Ukraine, LLC Astelit (life:), Kyivstar and MTS (formerly UMC), this hotline, staffed by trained operators, warns potential victims about the dangers of trafficking and gives victims emergency care and consultations. UN Global Compact Launches Responsible Business Directory
Tomorrow the UN Global Compact Initiative in Ukraine will launch the first edition of the Responsible Business Directory Ukraine in partnership with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, European Business Association and the American Chamber of Commerce at a press event held at the Hyatt Kiev Regency hotel. The directory, supported by the Ukraine Citizen Action Network (UCAN) project of USAID, seeks to promote socially responsible business and CSR best practices. UGF and ABU Hold Roundtable Discussion: CSR and the Media
On September 13, the Ukrainian Grantmakers Forum (UGF) and the Association of Broadcasters of Ukraine held a round table "Covering Companies' Charitable Activities: Hidden Advertising or Socially Important Information?" to improve understanding between corporations and mass media, explain the legal aspects and nuances of covering corporate charity activities and develop recommendations to encourage corporate community engagement and related media coverage. |
