Shaktar Donetsk President Rinat Akhmetov hosts "Shakhtar for Children" Charity Event
On December 19, St. Nicholas' Day, Football Club Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov together with Foundation for the Development of Ukraine contributed almost 4 million UAH to 103 children's institutions in Donetsk. This is the seventh charitable event "Shakhtar for Children," which has become a tradition for the football club. Akhmetov himself, along with his friend Russian composer Igor Krutoy will visit three children's homes and orphanages. The beneficiaries include orphanage-schools, family-type children's homes, and health improvement centers, and a total of 12,605 children will receive aid. Click here for more information.

Leading Ukrainian Law Firms to Cooperate with Ukraine 3000 and the Children's Hospital of the Future Fund Pro Bono
On December 19, three local law firms announced a pledge to provide the Ukraine 3000
Foundation and the Children's Hospital of the Future Foundation with pro bono legal support. Through this contribution, Magister & Partners; Hryshchenko & Partners and Hvozdiy & Oberkovych Attorneys Firm are helping to revive a tradition of philanthropy in Ukraine with active support for foundations. Schedryi Dar and Nashe Radio Support Young Families in Ukraine
On December 8, cooking oil company Schedryi Dar and Nashe Radio awarded three young families with certificates worth a total of 8,500 UAH to renovate and furnish safe nursery rooms in their homes. The event, part of Schedryi Dar's "One Million Children for Ukraine" program helps increase Ukraine's birthrate by providing support to young families. Nationwide, families with children born between September and December 2007 registered the births to enter the competition. The winners were chosen randomly from the eligible, registered families. To celebrate the awards, companies hosted a children's party complete with clowns, games and other entertainment. Click here for more information
