Agroresource Helps Children in Rivne
On December 17, Rivne-based Agroresource announced the results of its social program "Agroresource - Taking care of children!" Launched in July 2007, the program provided comprehensive support and encouraged integration for children with special needs, children from orphanages, and other disadvantaged youth with support from the Rivne Center for Social Partnership. The 25,000 UAH program aided four projects that helped over 300 children with their personal growth, education and integration skills, such as theater, photography, drawing and more. Kyivstar Supports Education for Orphans
During December 2007, Kyivstar mobile communications operator organized educational lectures for children at orphanages throughout Ukraine to teach them about the benefits of a university education, admission procedures, study habits and future employment benefits of going to university. The "For People, For Country" social program reached out to high school students at 13 orphanages. The pupils also learned about their country's labor market and how to get ahead, each receiving special literature to help them to select and enter a university. InterMedia Hosts International Media Summit on HIV/AIDS
InterMedia will organize an international media summit on HIV/AIDS January 25 at the hotel Opera in Kyiv. The event will unite Ukrainian and international mass media and other organizations to form a national information strategy to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in Ukraine. | Ukraine Starts Work on International Social Responsibility Standard |
| The Ukrainian National Mirror Committee, which represents Ukraine at the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) Working Group on Social Responsibility will hold its first meeting on January 25 at the Ukrainian Science and Research Center for Standardization and Certification. National experts who participated in ISO's international working group meeting in Vienna in November 2007 will brief participants about the results and discuss plans for the coming year.
