DTEK Signs Social Partnership Agreement with Seven Local Governments in Eastern Ukraine
On March 26, top management of the Donbass Fuel-Energy Company (DTEK) signed a long-term declaration of social partnership with the heads of seven local self-governments in the towns and districts where the DTEK companies are located. The declaration aims to replicate successful cooperation agreements to resolve social issues in the affected regions for the long term. Last summer, the company signed temporary memorandums of understanding regarding social partnerships while contributing over 3 million UAH to healthcare, education and infrastructure development programs. The new declaration outlines key goals, principles and forms of cooperation in the social sphere between DTEK, local self-governments and the public. DTEK has committed to contribute 6 million UAH to solve critical social problems in Ukraine in 2008. Please click here for more information. |

The Center for CSR Development, the State Committee on Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Host an International ISO 26000 Meeting in Kyiv
On April 7 the Center for CSR Development, the State Committee on Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will host a forum on "Perspectives of International Standards on Social Responsibility ISO 26000 for Eastern Europe" in Kyiv with support from the Global Compact Initiative, SKM, Telenor and Volia companies. Government representatives, businesses, NGOs and other stakeholders involved in the ISO 26000 mirror committee activities will join their counterparts from other eastern European countries and international experts to discuss raising awareness and improving CSR in the region; increasing the effectiveness of national mirror committees; involving various stakeholders in the process of developing CSR standards and the development of the latest draft of the ISO26000 document. So far, more then 80 countries have signed on to participate in the development of international standard on social responsibility. National Business and Education Forum to Take Place in Kyiv
On April 11, the Consortium for the Enhancement of Ukrainian Management Education and HOCK Accountancy Training company will conduct a forum on "Business and Education: the Inevitability of Cooperation" in Kyiv The forum will give businesses and educational institutions an opportunity to discuss cooperation, establish partnerships, arrange practical experience for students as well as employment and to share best practices to improve the quality of business education in Ukraine before the "International Exhibition Education and Career 2008." Support for the forum comes from Ministry of Education and Science, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands MATRA KAP Program, and information support from American Chamber of Commerce. | Ecological Technologies & Innovations Hosts Environmental Technologies Forum in Kyiv |
| From April 3 to 5, engineering company Ecological Technologies & Innovations and the Expocenter of Ukraine will host an international forum on "Ecological Technologies & Innovations" in Kyiv, bringing together all of the very best work that has been done in the field of waste maintenance, safety and management and to bridge the gap between theory and practice. This forum will be the premier Ukrainian environmental technology trade show and conference dedicated solely to the latest technologies, solutions, systems, equipment and services in all fields of environment management and technology. The organizers aim to stimulate further education in the waste sector and to promote dialogue among businesses, government, NGOs and the community on important environmental issues. The event will draw decision makers from throughout the government, public and private sectors and offer ideal opportunities for networking and business development.
