Samsung Electronics Sponsors Nationwide Essay Contest for Schoolchildren
On April 10th, Samsung Electronics announced that it will continue its social program, "Samsung Towards Knowledge 2008" for a third year. In partnership with Microsoft Ukraine, Intel, Ukrtelecom (TM "OGO!") and K-Trade, this short essay contest is targeted towards schoolchildren and educators. Participants must submit an application form and a short essay on the theme, "Computer Networks Unite People." This program seeks to overcome the digital divide, increase ICT knowledge, reduce computer illiteracy and to modernize the educational process. Samsung will award 10 Ukrainian schools with computer labs and Internet access. Applications will be accepted until July 17. Please click here for more information (in Ukrainian).

MTS-Ukraine Awards Healthy Lifestyle Grant to Donetsk NGO Alliance
On April 11, MTS-Ukraine announced that it will award a grant to the Donetsk NGO Alliance to implement the project "I lead healthy life style," a finalist from the Fair of Innovative Ideas for the Youth of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova 2008. This contest was a World Bank initiative to support innovative development projects in the region. The Alliance will promote healthy lifestyles through Public Service Announcements (PSAs). Hyundai Motors Ukraine Plants Trees Across Ukraine
On April 14, Hyundai Motors Ukraine launched its new "Green Space of Hyundai" initiative to help improve Ukraine's environment by planting 911 trees in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk oblast. During 2008, Hyundai Motors Ukraine will plant 6,000 trees in the six most environmentally critical regions, including Kirovohrad, Melitopol (Zaporizhzia oblast), Alchevsk (Luhansk oblast), Makeevka (Donetsk oblast) and Kremenchug (Poltava oblast).
