Yalta European Strategy Convenes its Annual Summit July 10
The 5th annual summit of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) will start on July 10. The annual meeting is the largest and the most influential nongovernmental forum on Ukrainian and EU issues, bringing together over 160 political, society and business leaders, as well as diplomats and journalists from 20 countries to discuss the current global challenges and their impact on Europe and Ukraine. It will highlight the new challenges and opportunities caused by the global financial and food crises, Ukraine's political situation and EU integration status, Euro 2012 preparations, Ukraine's response to the global food crisis and other important issues. YES was founded in July 2004 by Ukrainian businessman and society leader Victor Pinchuk. For more information please click here.

East Europe Foundation, Expert Ukraine magazine and Avlita Stevedore Company Conduct a Seminar Mass Media and CSR in Sevastopol
On July 9, the East Europe Foundation (EEF), Expert Ukraine magazine, Avlita Stevedore Company will host an intensive seminar for journalists and editors from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on Mass Media and Corporate Social Responsibility in Sevastopol with support from the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine's Media Development Fund. During this seminar, organizers will help media better understand CSR, how mass media may influence Ukrainian businesses' CSR activities, why it is important for their communities, and how to report on it in a balanced fashion. Young Ukrainian Leaders Pledge to Reduce Their Carbon Footprints
On June 25, the British Council in Ukraine officially introduced 18 young Ukrainian leaders who will become Climate Advocates under the program "Challenge Europe." The program is part of the British Council's global climate initiative entitled "Low Carbon Future in Ukraine," a three-year campaign that aspires to make a definite and lasting impact on the climate change debate. The Climate Advocates will join counterparts in 14 other Challenge Europe countries to unearth new ways of reducing carbon use and advocate for underused carbon control methods. They aim to bring about a Low Carbon Future through changes to public policy, business practice or public behavior. For additional information, please click here.
