Youth Initiatives Department Raises Money for Energy Efficiency

A fund set up by Kharkiv-based NGO Youth Initiatives Department raised more than 100,000 UAH from local business to implement innovative, energy-saving pilot projects in different districts of the Kharkiv oblast. This fund was made possible through a 2007 Eurasia Foundation-awarded grant program to improve energy efficiency in the oblast, a program now managed by the East Europe Foundation (EEF). The project analyzed energy-saving opportunities using non-traditional sources of energy for each pilot district and found local experts and activists to develop and implement efficiency plans. Support for the fund came from NAK Haftogaz DK Ukrgazvydobuvannia, the Krona Group of companies, the Neftgazprom international foundation of industry investments, Ukraerorukh and Energobud. The initial Eurasia Foundation initiative was co-funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and USAID. Please click here to learn more about EEF Energy efficiency program.
