TNK-BP Commerce, Ukraine 3000 Help Children with Cerebral Palsy
 
 
On September 17, the Ukraine 3000 Charitable Foundation and TNK-BP Commerce announced new grants within the framework of the third national competition within their joint program, The Joy of Childhood - Free Movements, launched in 2006. Grants were awarded to centers and organizations that provide health care and rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy. Within this program, children with cerebral palsy go through physical therapy at a special international hospital in Truskavets. As of September 17, 1,230 children have had physical therapy, 455 of those in 2008. The program also provides for grant competitions for the hospitals and organizations that care for children with cerebral palsy. The four-year program is budgeted at UAH 4 mln (about USD 89,000) annually. The competition was announced in February 2008 and drew 87 proposals and produced 24 winners. Centre for CSR Development, Partners Announce Competition for Best Family-Friendly Employers in Ukraine 

On September 29, the Centre for CSR Development and the Centre for Communications and Development (Slovak Republic), with the support of SlovakAid will launch a competition for the best family-friendly employers in Ukraine. The contest's organizing committee is comprised by representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ukrainian Ministry for Family, Youth and Sports, the Ukrainian State Committee for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Yedinstvennaya magazine and Delo newspaper. Winners will be chosen based on employee relations and will offer such options as gender equality, work-life balance, social bonuses. They will also support equal employment opportunities and mothers in the workforce. At the presentation, Ukrainian and Slovak companies will share best practices with other companies. Telenor, East Europe Foundation Help Improve Waste Management in Voznesensk
 

With support from Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor, the East Europe Foundation awarded a $24,747 grant to the Agency for Economic Development of Voznesensk to introduce alternative energy sources, help protect the environment and save on utility bills. The agency will introduce a system of organic waste management in Voznesensk in Mykolayiv oblast. The AEDV will help the local community separate organic waste, such as plants and trees, to use for composting and the production of fuel pellets for eventual energy conversion. The project will encompass 83% of the city's households. This grant was awarded as a part of East Europe Foundation's Municipal Partnerships for Better Energy Use Program.
